The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is one of the most important festivities in Mexico because Mexicans honor their dead with a joyful and positive celebration, now turned into a fantastic popular holiday. The conception of life and death, as well as all the traditions and ancient beliefs that revolve around the subject, is a characteristic that distinguishes Mexicans from the rest of the world.
On November 1st and 2nd, Mexicans go to the cemeteries and make offerings to celebrate these deaths. The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) celebration is divided into two parts: November 1st, which is All Saints Day, celebrates all the saints who had an exemplary life. November 2nd is the actual Day of the Dead celebration at the cemetery graves, adorned in an abundance of flowers.
