About Brook Hill and the "Music City" Barrel
Brook Hill is the highest tier of the Rare Character Whiskey Company portfolio: a revived pre-Prohibition Kentucky brand name reserved for the oldest and most complex casks the team sources. Every Brook Hill release is a single barrel, bottled at full natural cask strength, and assigned a codename rather than a batch number. XMUSICXCITY places this barrel in Nashville's orbit — bold, expressive, unmistakably American rye.
Tasting Notes
Nose — Toasted rye bread, caramelized brown sugar, vanilla bean, candied orange peel, fresh coffee, cinnamon and clove, leather, tobacco leaf, roasted pecans, polished oak.
Palate — Butterscotch, toffee, vanilla custard, cracked black pepper, dark chocolate, espresso, dried cherries, orange zest, toasted walnut, mature oak. Full-bodied, with the proof carrying intensity without tipping into heat.
Finish — Long and warming. Charred oak, crushed mint, cocoa, leather, baking spice, sweet vanilla and citrus tea, with rye spice lingering.
A few drops of water open up additional dried fruit, creamy butterscotch and baking spice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Brook Hill "Music City" a bourbon or a rye?
It is a rye. Rare Character releases Brook Hill in both bourbon and rye, and the 15-year expressions are frequently mislabeled online. XMUSICXCITY is a 15 year Kentucky straight rye whiskey.
What does XMUSICXCITY mean?
It is the barrel's codename. Brook Hill releases are identified by codename instead of batch number; XMUSICXCITY reads as "Music City," Nashville's nickname. Past codenames include COMPASSMOTIONS and BLAHZAY.
What proof is Brook Hill "Music City" 15 Year Rye?
115.5 proof, or 57.75% ABV — full natural cask strength, with no water added and no chill filtration.
How rare is this bottle?
Each Brook Hill release is drawn from one cask, so the total yield is limited to that single barrel. Once a codename sells through, it is not produced again.
How should I drink it?
Neat is the intended serve, in a Glencairn or similar glass. A few drops of water will open the nose and soften the proof. At this age and price point it is a sipping and collecting bottle rather than a mixing rye.
Can I buy Brook Hill "Music City" 15 Year Rye online?
Yes. Rare Tequilas ships this bottle to eligible states. Adult signature is required on delivery.
