(Actual estate and vintage year may differ from image.)
The Tequila Ocho Bundle brings together all three core expressions from the world's first single-estate, vintage-dated tequila: Plata, Reposado, and Añejo Single Estate La Mesa 2025 — three 750ml bottles, each 100% Blue Weber agave at 40% ABV (80 proof), each additive-free, all produced by Carlos Camarena under NOM 1474 in Arandas, Jalisco. Same agave, same distillery, same hands. The only variable is time in oak, which makes this the clearest way to taste what a barrel actually does to highland agave.
What's in the set
- 1 x Tequila Ocho Plata (750ml) — Unaged. The estate with nothing in front of it: cooked agave, black pepper, citrus, mint and wet mineral.
- 1 x Tequila Ocho Reposado (750ml) — Rested exactly 8 weeks and 8 days in ex-American whiskey barrels. Just enough oak for vanilla and soft caramel without covering the agave.
- 1 x Tequila Ocho Añejo Single Estate La Mesa 2025 (750ml) — Minimum 12 months in used American oak. Citrus and herbs from Rancho La Mesa, layered with caramel, cinnamon and baking spice.
The brand that proved terroir exists in tequila
Tequila Ocho was founded in 2008 by master distiller Carlos Camarena — a fifth-generation agave farmer and third-generation tequilero — with the late Tomás Estes, the man who brought tequila culture to Europe. Their argument was that if wine grapes taste like where they grew, agave should too. Ocho became the first tequila brand to bottle by named estate and by harvest year to prove it, and it has never repeated the same estate-and-vintage combination.
How it's made
Camarena harvests only Blue Weber agave that's spent 7 to 10 years in the ground, cut by hand when fully mature. The piñas are cooked slowly in traditional stone and brick ovens, extracted by roller mill, fermented with wild ambient yeast in open-air wooden vats, and twice-distilled in copper pot stills. No diffuser, no shortcuts, no additives — no sweeteners, colorants, glycerin or oak extract in any of the three bottles. Production is registered under NOM 1474, Cía. Tequilera Los Alambiques in Arandas, Jalisco.
How the three compare
| Expression | Aging | Color | Leads with | Best served |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plata | None | Clear | Agave, pepper, citrus | Neat or in a margarita |
| Reposado | 8 weeks, 8 days in ex-American whiskey oak | Pale straw | Agave, vanilla, caramel | Neat or in an Old Fashioned |
| Añejo La Mesa 2025 | Minimum 12 months in used American whiskey oak | Light amber | Lime peel, herbs, oak spice | Neat only |
Tasting notes
Plata
Cooked agave, black pepper, citrus, mint and minerals on the nose. The palate is dry and peppery with damp earth underneath; the finish is clean and mineral-driven.
Reposado
Cooked agave and oak, then vanilla, caramel, citrus, cinnamon and a hint of pineapple. Medium-long finish, warm and gently spiced, with agave outlasting the wood.
Añejo Single Estate La Mesa 2025
Lime peel, green apple and tropical fruit lift first, then fresh herbs over roasted agave and vanilla. Mineral and earthy on the palate with caramel, cinnamon and white pepper. Long, herbal, mineral finish.
How to taste them together
Pour all three side by side in copitas or Glencairns, starting with the Plata and working up. Because the agave source and distillation are identical across the set, everything that changes between glasses is the barrel — this is a vertical tasting in the wine sense, and it's the fastest way to learn what oak adds and what it takes away. Add a splash of water to the Plata to open it up, then compare again.
Pairs with: ceviche and raw oysters with the Plata; grilled meats and mole with the Reposado; aged Manchego, Cotija and dark chocolate with the Añejo.
Who this set is for
Anyone moving from mixto tequila into additive-free agave spirits, anyone who wants to understand aging categories without buying three bottles at three separate times, and anyone shopping for a serious gift. It arrives as a complete story rather than a single bottle — and the Añejo inside it is a single-vintage release that won't be produced again.

Frequently asked questions
What's included in the Tequila Ocho bundle?
Three 750ml bottles: one Plata, one Reposado, and one Añejo Single Estate La Mesa 2025.
What's the difference between Plata, Reposado and Añejo?
Time in oak. The Plata is unaged, the Reposado rests 8 weeks and 8 days in ex-whiskey barrels, and the Añejo spends a minimum of 12 months in used American oak. The agave, estate philosophy and distillation are the same across all three.
Are all three additive-free?
Yes. No sweeteners, colorants, glycerin or oak extract in any bottle. Color and flavor come from the agave and the barrel alone.
Which estate and year will I receive?
The Añejo in this set is La Mesa 2025. Ocho rotates estates and vintages continuously for the Plata and Reposado, so those bottles may differ from the ones pictured. Message us before ordering if you need a specific release.
Is this a good gift?
Yes — it's the most complete introduction to Ocho available in one purchase, and it works for both a newcomer to additive-free tequila and a collector who wants the La Mesa 2025 vintage.
What does NOM 1474 mean?
NOM 1474 is the distillery registration for Cía. Tequilera Los Alambiques in Arandas, Jalisco — the Camarena family distillery where every Tequila Ocho expression is produced.
